Well its jan 26th...Australia day holiday. We decided to go for a swim & fish at our local dam/lake.

The light was terrible for photography but great to be out in as you dont get sunburnt as much.

The BBQ tables were pre-booked. These are wild Eastern Grey Kangaroos..wild as in they come & go as they please ...not cranky or savage. They let me get about 15 yards from them..even the one 15 year old that wont leave home.

All macropods lick their forearms in hot weather for cooling thus the wet arms.

Still on wildlife here....its just that the 3 foot eel is out of shot. I can get a photo of an eel anyday.

    cheebus, thats a biggun:uhoh

Part of the wonder of living in Os must be having all these wonderful and exotic creatures about. At least for me, watching people get really freaked out by them could only add to the funne_nau.gif

    Great shots 'Gusthumb.gif

    I really enjoyed those,
that baby kangaroo must be a mama's boy and doesn't want to leave the nest, or pouch rather.

    Tks for looking guys

Tessa roos are masters of drought survival. They can have a joey on the ground...one in the pouch & one as a fertised egg waiting in line. That fertilised egg can wait dormant for several years to wait out a drought.

Mate several years ago they sent 2 divers down in a dam the same as this one (50 miles to the west) to work on the valves/gates from memory. They came straight back up & refused to go back down without a cage...said the eels were the size of a mans leg :uhoh
