William and I had a blast the other day shooting birds in the Sepulveda basin. This is my two cents worth :

I like them both. Nice detail on the first and the mood and composition on the second is excellent.
I have just started trying to to capture geese and cranes that winter in this area, and I am not getting anthing close to as nice with my D70 w/Sigma 70-200. Can you give some technical info on your camera / lens / settings for the shots?

Hi Tom,
thanks for the compliments. I use a Canon 20D w battery grip and the lens used for this shot was the EF 300mm f4 coupled with a 1.4 teleconverter.
The image is slightly cropped with some pp in ps.

my husband says I'm wrong - he thinks it's Canadian Goose, eh. Those are beautiful! I can see why you had such a blast!

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
Thanks Tessa,
I did a google search and Canada goose (or geese) seems to be the correct name.
