Buff-tip Moth Caterpillar, Phalera bucephala

I was about to place some kitchen scraps in a compost bin when I found a surprise on its lid.

It seems that the caterpillar had walked onto a dead, yellow leaf and both had descended with the larva hanging on. When I found it it was arching upwards, looking for a leaf to climb onto. The nearest was out of my reach. I returned it to an alternative leaf after the photo session.

Olympus EM-1, (aperture priority), Olympus 4/3 50mm f2 macro, f8 & f11 ISO 250, cloudy daylight, hand-held.

The stereo is crosseye.
