A slime mould for Harold

Found this one today on rotting wood in mixed forest. It really is a striking colour. Each fruiting body is about 2 mm I would guess.

    Nice colony.

    Possibly Trichia decipiens but its too crowded and it looks like the stems are going to elongate. Maybe a Hemitrichia. Worth another look if you can locate it,

    We found two colonies yesterday. They were about 5 km apart but at the same stage. I might try and walk up the hill this evening. These were big colonies.

    It's well worth collecting a sample to monitor its ongoing development.
