Has anyone tried this? http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,1910425,00.asp

If so.......does it really speed things up all that much?

ne_nau.gif I never really shut photoshop down, nor my computer, so some of that startup stuff doesn't apply to me. I leave it running all the time on my G5 quad.

It must be so depressing to be hampered by such an anemic machine. rolleyes1.gifrolleyes1.gifrolleyes1.gif (as I wipe the drool from my keyboard wishing I had one too)

    First RAM, Then Disks
I had already tried most of those things, byt Photoshop was bringing my 3.2GHz Pentium to its knees. Then it went after my knees. In my previous incarnation i was a computer designer. Nothing beats more RAM for throughput. Nothing. I am running 1.5G and honestly, I can't afford to go to 4G without buying a new computer. (I know my mother board is not as fast as it should be.) Here's what I did and it saved the day. For $150 I bought a Western Digital Raptor 74G. Fastest PC disk in existence its 10,000 RPM, SATA II, and queues up to 150 commands. I gave it all exclusively to Photoshop for scratch. Everybody is much happier now. IF you think its time to buy a new PC but you are short on $$, this is THE CURE.
