It was Australia day yesterday, which is always celebrated with fireworks in every state. To avoid the traffic myself and a few friends headed up into the hills for a climb then sat back and watched the fireworks. I know there'll be more speccy shots taken so post away!!
This is West Aus by the way.
May I take your picture?

It looks like you had a nice view, when you say hills are you talking about Kalamunda or vicinity? if so what camera lens combo did you use.

Very cool shot. It looks like they were setting them off in two different parts of the city, interesting. Here are a couple I took last year in Chicago.

I like this one because it looks like a face.

Not sure why my camera details never show, but anyways. My photo's were taken from Kalamunda hills (Stathams Quarry) with a Canon 20D and 70-300 IS USM Lens. The fireworks go from A barge in the river as well as off the roof's of a few buildings.

Cheers for the comments keep the add-on posts coming

My DLSR will never come closer than the boardwalk to the beach, so these were shot with my Minolta Maxxum 5 on fuji Astia 100 slide film. 50mm prime f11 to f16 4 to 6 second exposure.

Hey Mike, mind if I ask why you chose ISO 1600? Your shots seem to have been long exposures and tri-podded, or you have the steadiest hands on earth. Most of the fireworks shots I've seen have been at low ISO.

I've got my share of fireworks photos...so I wasn't too worried about if they turned out or not. The 20D was a new toy...and I wanted to test out the high ISO 1600 at night (in the dark) to see how the noise was. No particular reason...other than I was experimenting. :D
