WordPress block embed

I was playing around with the Smugmug block on WordPress but I only get a "“Sorry, this content could not be embedded.”"-error. I've tried inserting a link to a gallery (using custom domain) and a photo (tried custom domain and photo.smugmug link) which both fails. Does anyone have any experiences to share about this?

Unfortunately WordPress doesn't mention that you can't embed SmugMug content using custom domains, so you have to use your SmugMug domain (username.smugmug.com). It won't display the image until you preview it or view it live: https://wordpress.org/support/article/smugmug-embed/

If you want to embed a gallery, you must use a plugin, like "Photonic Gallery"

Just found out that the SM embeds on my blog posts, which used to work, have quite working. Had to redo the images with direct uploads to WP, a real PITA. I'm giving up on embedding from SM, it's too complicated and (apparently) unreliable as the mechanics are subject to change.

Does anybody have any idea how this wordpress managed to embed a SM gallery https://ecorun.ro/galerie/ecomarathon/ ? You can easily browse and search without leaving the site. the only time it leaves the site and goes to SM is when user downloads the image.
