Blog Funcion/Customize tool

i am not a savvy blogger, but would like to set up a basic BLOG link to a page that would list by date certain events and posts relating to my photographic activity.
It seems however not to be a very simple affair.
What am I missing?

You can create a blog on a blogging site and link to it from your site.

Over a year ago I decided to try creating a blog, linked to my SM gallery, in hopes of eventually getting some Google search visibility. I started out not knowing much, but eventually some things out, and I wrote a series of blog posts about my learning curve experience, starting here:
