Gorgeous....... when I IR images I look into the picture and immediately my mind races and I start thinking up a story to go with the picture in my head.

I love how captivating IR is, so dramatic at times.

    Howdy You Rascal,

Yes, I remember your love of IR, in fact you were one of the "Founding Fathers of IR" on STF. I still remember your picture in Central Park with the Couple in the Boat with the Moon up:):

I have really been enjoying myself here, lots of nice Folks and d:Dmn Fine Photographers.

    Howdy Skippy,

Thanks so much for your nice comments. I have gotten hooked on IR and it's hard to divide the time shooting between Color and IR, lately IR has been winning outrolleyes1.gif

    Howdy Scott,

I am shooting with a Sony 717, in Nightshot mode, with a HoyaR72 IR Filter attached, also have a ND8 most times, and sometimes supplement with an ND2 or 4.

    Beware of IR, it's addictive!!

Wow! I love this shot! It has a sort of creepy/mysterious feel to it. It looks like something you would see in a horror movie with the dark water not knowing what's in it.

    Howdy Andy,

That really sounds neat, I must admit I haven't kept up with all the Sony's, it's safer that way:D I thought you were shooting a converted Rebel for your IR? If you have time to fill me in on the R-1 I would love to hear about it.

    Howdy Red Bull,

The whole scene was pretty spookie, the water was really churning and swirling around, and there was a major storm coming it that had the sky almost a "green" color, perfect for IRrolleyes1.gif

    Thanks for the nice comments!!

    Howdy George,

Uh moving over to the DarkSide of Photography, you'd better be careful, IR is addictive:D

You know just in case this doesn't work out, I have moved into Andy's house so you can find me thererolleyes1.gif anytime:D

I am not that familiar with the Nikon 8800 isnt' it? As with most cameras that haven't been modded or have Nightshot mode on them, you will have longer shutter times, so some of your shots might be a little disappointing at first, as when things move with either wind or just motion, they will blur, but will a little practice and patience you will be rewarded:):

Here is a link that has some very interesting technical/clinical info.

    http://www.jr-worldwi.de/photo/

I am excited for you and will be anxiously awaiting seeing some of your work. I have to admit IR has really change my whole perspective on Photography, and is a great addition to "Normal" Photography

    Craig-

    it's the nikon coolpix 8800-

I wanted a point and shoot with raw capability that I could haul around with me when I went to work etc-

it's a nice camera but agonizingly slow, especially after using a 20d-

so now, I haul around my 20d-

but I am going to use the 8800 more, especially if I can get the ir going-

it also is supposed to be fairly decent with macro, which I will probably dabble in a little-

thanks much (and thx for the link)

    Howdy George,

I went and looked at the 8800, that's one neat camera!!! I you know if you really get hooked on this IR thing, it might be something to have modded, and then you can change back with the Special x-Rite filters.

OK, so when will your filters be here:): Who did you order them from?

Enough questions for now!!! I have heard that Nikon's macro is one of the best on the market, a lot of jewerly folks use them for there presentations.

    Craig-

ordering from bh photo--will probably be in next week sometime but won't get to play with the new toys until next weekend--

am prepared to use tripod and long exposures--like to fool around with bw night shots so use to it--

maybe will get something posted next week if I think it's worthwhile--

    thanks for the advice--

I am not sure what all gear you have but sometimes for the cost of an IR Filter you can change your whole outlook on seeing things.
