Look at that clear sky! Those colors are wonderful too. So.... who does live down there?
well.. we were on the way to the airport coming home and we so hated to leave the desert.. we saw a road leading to a road that lead to a road that lead here.. we said "dam it" lets go down there and to hell with the airport.. there was a little ranch, a little store of some kind and some nice people who smiled a lot.. it was wonderful.. we made the plane..sigh.. I wanna go back.. and will..
Imagine is about all I can do when I'm stuck out here in the flat cornfields.
Thanks for sharing a great shot.

it looks like this was taken in my backyard - well not literally, but figuratively. What desert were you shooting in? I drive through a canyon similar to this almost every day (well, not quite this rugged), but the San Bernardino mtns are pretty cool. I look at views like this and wonder where I should be to make the most of them photographically (w/o the powerlines and other trappings of civilization). A lot of people look at this and see nothing but the brown and drying grass (but the wild flowers in spring are pretty cool). I really should get out more (but always the same ol' excuses - work and kids and never ending soccer)
thanks for stimulating my imagination - maybe I'll act on it while we still have the blue skies of winter (vs the brown haze of summer)

I agree Lynne. A few years ago I packed my Eagle Talon and headed east.
I went from Indiana all the way to Virginia Beach and rarely hit the interstate.
It was the best trip I have ever taken. All alone, no one to answer to. I stopped at little country gas stations, bait shops, stores, villages. I would take my time and talk to the locals about their area. Found some beautiful lakes up in the mountain, desolate spots. The locals could guide me to the best camping areas also. Being a woman out on a trip like this alone, I did have my safety in the back of my mind. No one ever gave me any trouble and if they had, believe me I was prepared.

Been There :-) When I lived in Arizona (both north and south) I would tour the state off the beaten path. Some points of interest when you return. Meteor Crater and Sedona and John Waynes cattle ranch near Casa Grande, just to name a few.
