Most digital cameras have modes of operation, and at least one mode of full automation to shoot nice looking JPG image files. The FUJIFILM X-T30 has an "Auto" mode, and you can further select "ADVANCED SR AUTO" where the camera tries to select the appropriate scene mode.
As you advance in photography, the X-T30 allows:
Program AE: Where the camera still provides a high level of exposure automation, but allows you to change part of the exposure to suit conditions, while the camera automatically changes the other parts of the exposure to maintain pleasing results.
Shutter-Priority AE: You choose the desired Shutter Speed, and the camera adjusts the other parts of the exposure. Aperture-Priority AE: You choose a desired Aperture, and the camera adjusts the other parts of the exposure.
Finally, the camera has a fully Manual Exposure mode, where you have total control of the exposure. This is an advanced mode for when you need to adjust every part of the Exposure, typically during tricky lighting situations or with unusual subject matter.
About the only time the X-T30 might seem laggy or sluggish is in very low light, where the autofocus may struggle, or with scenes involving reflective components, but these issues/problems are pretty common to other cameras as well.
Edit:
I just noticed that Adorama and B&H have discounts available currently for Fujifilm X-T30 Mirrorless Camera with XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 R LM OIS Lens - Charcoal Silver finish.
In addition to the above camera plus lens kit from above, I can recommend the Viltrox AF 56mm f/1.4 XF Lens for FUJIFILM X (Black) as a fast aperture portraiture lens with very nice subject-from-background separation and decent bokeh. Really, really nice value prime lens.
... I suggest you shoot for a few months to make sure you are happy with that combination for their combined qualities. If you don't need more for general-purpose photography, then come back here for tele-zoom suggestions to finish your basic kit.
