Image Views Are A Poor Indicator of Interest or Popularity

I photograph events of my children's school performances and soccer activities. The images are free for parents to download and although I can get an idea of the total views, the way in which the galleries are most frequently viewed (on a phone, depressingly) means that there's no way to tell which are actually valued enough to print, share or archive since a viewer usually scrolls through the lot. I know this subject came up years ago but I'm hoping there may now be a way to enable a download counter and include it in the Stats listing.
