A Handsome Brown, Speckled Mushroom

I saw this in some pasture, amongst grass, at the weekend.

Having thought it was sure to be readily recognisable, I have been told that even the genus is uncertain.

The image has been cropped and the stereo is crosseye.

Olympus EM-1, (aperture priority), Olympus m4/3 30mm f3.5 ED macro, 1/125 at f11 ISO 400, hand-held.

The owner of the farm where it found it is also knowledgeable about the mushrooms which grow there. She was surprised to see my images of such a speckled individual.

It seems that, after microscopic examination of "speckles" brushed from fresh specimens, it is likely that they are pollen from Deodar Cedars on the neighbouring land.
