The genus of mushrooms Laccaria has the popular name "Deceivers" because they vary so much in shape and colour that each individual can be mistaken for a different species.
This one is the Amethyst Deceiver _Laccaria amethystina_but I can't be sure. See the problem? It is purple when moist and almost white when almost dry.
Anyway, although they are common and widespread in deciduous woods, such a populous group is rare.
The stereo is crosseye.
