Retain Metadata from HEIC files

Metadata is always stripped from HEIC files when uploaded from Safari. My request is to either support HEIC natively so no conversion is necessary or retain the metadata in the converted JPEG.
Real world use case: I share an upload link to galleries to friends and family and every time they upload photos from their mobiles, the album is entirely out of order since there is no Date Taken to sort by.
