Well the 250D just isn't workable with a macro lens.
The DOF is so critical focus is almost not do-able!
Yes this was done on a tripod with a remote release...manual focus on Priority mode.
No flash just natural light coming in on my porch.

Comments welcome! I'm still learning! biggrin.gif

The following pics are just resized....no crop....Did USM at 100% with 4.0 radius.

Here is the test photo with the Canon 250D close-up.

Here is one with the Straight macro with nothing but a B+W UV filter on it.

As you can see the magnification gain with the 250D isn't even worth puttering with.
I do have a B+W +3 filter coming I'll try next to see if it's any better.
Dunno if I'll even keep this 250D....kinda redundant.

I just bought the sigma macro off of FM. From the thread you were bumping, I'm Ultrazoom over there. Can't wait to get it. Seeing all of Brian's (LordV) work made we really want this lens.

As I said in the other thread- I'd try with a much faster shutterspeed and probably smaller aperture (ie good lighting conditions) before writing it off to get above say 1/60th sec and have reasonable DOF. I'd also leave off any other filters (I certainly don't have a protective filter on my lens).
Neat shot of the coin BTW.

    I'm with you Eric!
Brian should get promo kick backs from Sigma for doing such a good job at demonstrating their lens! :D
Brian is a true Macropher....hopefully some of his talent will rub off on us! :giggle

Glad you got that lens off FM!! It was a great deal considering it sells for $400 new. I gave a straight $280 for mine LNIB with ALL the PW.
Right down to the original sale receipt from Dec 2004.

I ended up gettin it for $270 shipped to my door blbl.gif

As for Brian and his work with this lens, if I can only produce half the quality he does I will be doing great.
