Rotating background photos on my home page look low resolution

I was looking at a 27in Mac at Best Buy and thought it would be fun to see my photos on a bigger screen. First thing I noticed was that my photos rotating in the background look like they are low resolution / poorer quality than they are. I went to my galleries and looked at the same images in full size and they are sharp with full detail. Does anyone know how to make background images look better? Thank you!
