Combining Multiple Photos Automatically

I've been combining several photos of runners to create an action sequence using photoshop. Would like to find a way to automate the process. Say take group of photos including a photo with no one in it and then have photoshop automatically select the part of the photo that is different, then combine them all. Right now I am importing the photos in photoshop stacked and aligned. Then masking each one and combining them. Easy to do, just seems like there would be a way to automate it.
Any thoughts?

Enthusiast’s Guide: How to use Photoshop’s image stacks to remove people from a scene
Edit:
Hint: the final sentence in the article contains a possible hint to a process to allow changing subjects to persist from multiple frames in an image sequence.
The important bit: "There are many other Stack Modes besides Mean and Median, and I recommend you play around with them to see what effects they have on the image stack"

That gets me real close, just need the person to be solid.
Figured it out!
Load layers, check both boxes
properties - edit contents
quick action - remove background on each layer
That works.
Is there a way to set up a set of actions that automatically happen?
Good on you for persisting!
