You know, Don, you and some others who shoot a lot of this stuff should fess up about the reality of things.....this shot should be truthfully identified as " Dreaded White Spikes ". There was another one you posted recently that should have been , in man's best interest, identified as " Death By Poking ". I love the colors here. Stay safe.
I always wanted to lie naked on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. Cracker Barrel didn't take kindly to it.
Thanks for the comments, folks. Part of what appeals to me about cholla blossoms is the mixture of beauty and danger. Although the danger is mild if you're careful.
Perfect application of limited focus to isolate the subject, with just a couple spines compositionally in focus and sneaking around the side, like they’re 'gonna get you! (Watch out Stumblebum!! )
Portrait orientation works awfully well for all elements of the image. Tones are accurate and representative.
