Site Maps?

I'm trying to get my website to appear in search engines. And, I'm at a loss and an extreme budget. Any advice on where to start?

Twenty years ago, having a sitemap was useful. Now, not so much. Google is pretty good finding new content. Also SmugMug does that anyway: https://news.smugmug.com/search-engine-food-sitemaps-b54bb574f2f1
