I would say that the early-morning rise paid off for you here, Don. Seeing as I know very little about desert flora, can you tell me what those brown, cylindrical plants are....the ones that proliferate the lighted hillside?
I always wanted to lie naked on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. Cracker Barrel didn't take kindly to it.
Nice natural light Tom, almost looks like a cool morning.
Foreshadowing the coming heat and furnace-like conditions famous in the AZ desert. I suspect that this time of year, early morning excursions are not only optimal but safer all around.
I don't know any locals of long standing who would even think about going out at midday. I go at dawn for comfort and good light and safety takes care of itself.

Thanks, Cristobal. I got up way too early to try to catch the light at the right moment.

Those are barrel cacti, Tom. There are a lot of them around.
