I like them both a lot, Don. #1 would also likely make for a good B&W high-key image.
Cristobal, Tom, thank you both. I did work up the first one in black and white and it works well. I like the color version a little better.
I agree it could work well in bw, but then you can’t appreciate the palo verde.

Image #1 might be interesting if post-processed as a B&W inverse or "negative" rendering.
Image #2 lovely has almost a Monet-isk look and feel, well taken and presented.
