Geese and Peacocks

I was in Las Vegas, Nevada last weekend. We visited Floyd Lamb State Park where we saw ducks, geese and peacocks alongside 4 small lakes. The weather was cold and clear. The sky was blue and the afternoon light was great for photos.

#3 I forgot the name of these black ducks, but I've seen some posted here in the past. Maybe you can help me out here.

I didn't do anything to this last photo except a slight crop and curves. I like the way the bird stands out against the background. Too bad there were cars parked there. Oh well. Comments and critique welcome.

Nice captures Snappy. They look a little soft to me.

The smaller goose in the first image may be a Greater White Fronted Goose, a little on the uncommon side.

The black birds are American Coots.

Thanks for the help on those birds, Steve. You know, all of my pictures have looked soft to me for a while. I know I was hand holding the camera and using a zoom lens, but I'm beginning to wonder. I have not had much luck with this camera from the start. I wonder if the autofocus is working right. I just can't seem to get a sharp focus nohow. Can anyone suggest a sure test?

Thanks for stopping by and for your help.

    Hey Dani,

Thanks for stopping by. I've seen the peacocks at the zoo fly up to a roof. I think they can only fly a short distance, kind of like chickens. :D
