Very young Amanita mushrooms are protected by the Universal Veil which look very much like and egg shell.
This one has just emerged through the top and the cup-like remnants are known as a volva.
Olympus EM-1, (aperture priority), Olympus m4/3 30mm f3.5 ED macro, 1/30 sec at f11 ISO 320, hand-held.
The stereos are crosseye and conventional.

Where do you find so many fungi?
Paul.

Mostly in local woods, on organised visits. We get permission to collect for identification purposes. This wood is an SSSI.
My garden is quite good too.

Thanks. I tend to think of single frames as samples and stereos are the real deal.
