Cannot organise, change background photo or anything!

I have tried for about two hours to change my background photo but I can't get it changed. I click on the background button and MAYBE a minute later the box with 'photo' in it appears. However more often than not I get a flashing white screen, it returns to the homepage and nothing happens. I will then get a waring on my iMac 'a problem occured with www.smugmug/app/customize'.
Any ideas please?

While SmugMug staff checks in on this forum occastionally it's best to contact the SmugMug help desk directly. The response to emails to the help desk is good (and quick).
