Bemis Woods Deer

At Bemis Woods yesterday I was walking along the river, looked up and saw some movement. I was following a Kingfisher so I thought it might have been that but no, it was a small group of deer. I got as close as I could without bothering them and then sat still and waited.

One of them just kept walking towards me until it was only about 75 feet away from me.

After posing a little for me they slowly walked off and dissapeared into the woods.

I really like that 2nd shots Nick clap.gif and the last shot is one of the best deer butt shots I've seen:D .

Neat framing on the first, but I agree the second is my favorite.

Thanks Harry, the 2nd shot is my favorite also and I couldn't resist the butt shot with her being that close to me.

Gus I'm not sure if they usually have a thicker coat or not but this winter has been very warm in January, December was cold but so far for 06 it's been warm. I tried to find another deer pic of mine from early fall to compare to but I guess I never uploaded it, I'll check it out when i get home.

Thanks Steve. There were a lot of branches and shrubs in the way so I took what I could get, but I do like how the first one came out. The branches in the way did mess up my AF so I took a lot of these on Manual Focus. It was a good learning experience.

Hey Gus here is a picture I took in August before the deer started putting on their winter coat. It's not a very good picture but you can still tell that these are a bit less shaggy than the others.

Ta mate...i really thought they would have a very thick coat for snow. Looking at those 1st few again i can see its really thicker than i 1st realised.

Thanks David but I think I was just lucky. I haven't been to these woods in over 5 years and just went on a whim. Plus I was off the trail and it would have been really muddy and icey.

Well actually I don't reveal my good spotsrolleyes1.gifrofl. Just kidding, if you ever want to go out there just yell.
