Red Strawberry Flower

Strawberry flowers are normally white but this is one of the newer varieties.

Olympus EM-1, (aperture priority), Olympus 4/3 50mm f2 macro, 1/40 sec at f11 ISO 800, hand-held.

    Why is that? Red attracts the most I suspect? Better for pollination?

    It's not that it's red but the particular hue and the lack of texture.

    As with poppies, red, not visible to insects, reflects UV (I think).
