Ok, I'm not a landscaper in any sense of the word...I know very little about getting good shots. We went to a local National Park picnic area yesterday, called Dangars Gorge. There is a waterfall but it was barely trickling. It wasn't a fantastic part of the day for photgraphing, mid afternoon, but please give me some feedback on this one:D I havent finished processing the few others that I got yet. Will post them up soon.

It's nice Tara I would lighten up the sky to add more contrast between it and the mountains and than add a bit of USM..

G'day RM. That a tough one for me. Yep sky is too bright but also the valleys lack definition..as you mentioned prob caused by harsh midday lighting.

BTW boring with the lack of storms isnt it. They just stopped all of a sudden ne_nau.gifheadscratch.gif

I wonder if this one might look better in color. headscratch.gif The clouds are very good, but there doesn't seem to be much dynamic range in the rest. Color might be more interesting.

    Cheers,

Don't know that I like the color version any better. It still seems flat. Since I am complaining so much, I suppose I am honor bound to try a little PP myself. I lightened the shadows a bit then did the normal lab curves. I still wasn't happy so I added an extra curves layer with an exaggerated A slope, set the blending sliders to exclude the greens and dialed down the opacity till I thought it looked reasonable. Here's the result:

Thanks Richard. It does bring out the cliffs a little better. I guess I will need to get lower or something next timene_nau.gif

The way that they have constructed the walking tracks means, unless you are willing to hang off a cliff by your ankles its hard to get the right angle...well an angle that does it for me anyhow. But, it stops people from falling off the edge which has happened in the past.

...I remember when I was a child there were no handrails, tarred walking tracks, steps, viewing platforms and all that touristy add on, just dirt, rocks and a waterfall...

(took this almost a year ago last time I was there)

Soon I shall have the chance to get out again, and the days getting shorter is going to help me alot with this harsh light stuff soon. The sun is still up at almost 8pm here...its crazy.
