SmugMug Uploader (Mac) – not uploading

I've just installed the SmugMug Uploader (macOS 13.5), and added a folder under Auto Upload. The status of the images in the folder (8 images, png and jpg, 1.2 mb in all) keeps changing between "uploading" and "queued", but none of them has been uploaded yet.

Any suggestions what could be wrong?

    A possibly related issue. If I try to upload individual images using the "Upload" function, I get an error.

    The SmugMug Uploader hasn't requested disk access; wouldn't it need that in order to access files?

    I contacted support; it seems there's a general issue at the moment.
