Color space conversion with the Lightroom plugin

I have been using the plugin to drag files from my computer to my Smugmug galleries -- most are Photoshop files but some are Canon CRAW, with Lightroom adjustments. I thought the uploader converted them from whatever color space they are in, to sRGB. but some show the characteristic lower contrast of not being converted, especially those that are in ProPhoto in Lightroom. Do I need to export to an appropriate JPEG and then upload that? It is so convenient to just drag the original files! Thanks!
