Excessive courier charges

Based in UK, our print supplier is Loxley Colour. I have approached them with regards to the courier charges for certain sizes of print to be told that it is SmugMug who determine these charges. With these current charges, it makes no economic sense to use Smugmug .The courier (DPD)offers a next day delivery for up to 5kg for £14.99 (incl VAT). Personally, I don't need next day delivery and it's very unlikely that we'll ever be sending a 5kg parcel.
Why can't DPD's £9 (incl VAT)service be used or, in fact, an alternative courier service?
This whole issue was raised again following my first exhibition which resulted in really good visits to my SmugMug site (www.jimduffyphotography.com) without the resultant sales. I have been told more than once that the courier cost was a significant factor.
