Help: Setting up a Gallery-Specific Search

I have years of photos that can be used as a private stock imaging repository, and a client who wants to use my photos for their website.
Is there a way I could set up a private page or gallery for my client to search for photos using my photos' existing metadata? I need something that isn't accessible by web crawlers or the general public.
SmugMug's help desk hasn't been clear.

You can set up a search on a page that limits the scope of what the user can see.
Search operates on keywords. I'm not sure what you are looking for when you say "using my photos' existing metadata".
This help page describes how search operates.

What I'd like to do is set up a private gallery of photos for my client to search, download, and post images from that gallery on their website. I do not want these to be accessible to anyone other than the client. Basically like a private stock imaging service.
Here is the help page on setting up a private gallery.
