Hi Y'all,

I received my brand new D2X on 1/18. I was very happy. :clap On 1/26 it stop metering properly. :cry I returned it to B&H on that day and they received it on Friday the 27th. Today I received an E-mail from B&H that a replacement D2X was shipped to me today and I should receive it by this Friday, 2/3.

I've been buying from B&H for years and have never anything but first class service from them.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

    Cool.

How did you first notice the metering problem?
    Sid.

    Hey Sid,

The metering problem arose on the 26th. Having gone through the same thing twice with the D2H I was familiar with it. I changed lenses, batteries, cleaned the contacts, turned it off and let it sit for a while, etc. No luck. Called b&H on Thursday and sent it them bext day air. They received it on Friday.

Thanks Harry. I was trying to visualize what tipped you off? Was the meter showing erratic readings, or no readings whatever?

Oh that was easy Sid. When I looked through the viewfinder it was like looking through a dirty gauze window shade. Then on a bright sunny day in aperture priority, with the aperture set to 5.6 it was setting the shutter speed at 1/20 sec. The same scene on my D2H I was getting a shutter speed of 1/1200 sec. From this info I was able to figure out the D2X was not metering as it should.

Thanks Harry, that's exactly what I was wondering. Nice explanation. How odd to have the same problem twice. And how encouraging to have B&H fix it without a fuss.
