1st Bug shot with Sigy 105 (For Eric)

Here ya go Eric you wanted to see what that 105 you bought can do.
My 1st bug shots with it today.
Taken at ISO 100 with my 420EX Flash.

PP = Slight crop.....resize and a shot of USM

Nice shots, you're getting there Jim! You just need to up the f-stop a bit (I use F22 with my 105 and 420EX) to get a bit more DoF. Are you using auto or manual focus?

Using a Macro on bugs is exciting isn't it!! I think you may be doing the exact same thing I did when starting out with macro. I used too small of a depth of field and missed the eyes. The eyes should almost always be the focus of the shot. Personaly I use f/8 or lower in Aperture priority. And like BigAl said always use manual focus, to get the correct part in focus park the focus and move the entire lens and camera to fine tune the focusing.
