This is a heads up to let everyone know that we're going to be doing work on this site tonight during our regularly scheduled Maintenance Window. Please expect SmugMug to be inaccessible for much if not all of the 5 hours we've allocated from 11:00pm to 4am PST.

We apologize for the inconvenience (hey, I always get some good work done on my photo galleries during this period ;) ), however we're going to be doing some cool things behind the scenes to make SmugMug better and more reliable!

Like adding new storage space for the 2+ terabyte onslaught you're expecting???
Y'all don't want to hear me, you just want to dance.

Actually, no, that can be done outside of a maintenance window. :)

I feel lost:cry. Is it over yet? I guess this is a sign I should be sleeping right now.

We're right in the middle of it and hope to finish within a few hours. We'll post in this thread to let you know when it's finished.

Thanks for the update. Hopefully you don't end up with a PITA server like last time and we get a new "Most users ever on-line".

Good luck and hopefully you'll be able to get some sleep tonight.

yikes, look at the time. late starting, and now late finishing (sorry! a pesky server had other plans for us, but Onethumb put it in line!). We're bringing things back online as we speak, not much longer!

    What kind of improvements?
Out of curiousity, what kinds of improvements were done that resulted in the downtime?

Actually, the planned maintenance window allows us to do the improvements. I'll ping Wireless later and let him know of your question thumb.gif

We did some behind the scenes work (you will probably not notice the fruits of our labor right off the bat). Onethumb worked on some database upgrades, and I tackled a web of power cables to shuffle some servers around to better balance our load in the datacenter.
