with oppotunities such as

There were four hunting within sight on this late afternoon day.

This particular couple, was feeling pretty darn good about life, as they had just finished of a ground squirrel (snack pack) each, in the warm late afternoon sun, not 2 minutes before I took these photos.

...it is clearly time, to dramatically upgrade in the lens department....these were shot earlier today, about 1 hour before dusk with a 70-300 Sigma/Rebel
F6.3..1/250..ISO400..@ 300mm

Between trips back and forth to the buffet table, they were doing some serious dancing around..it was quite obvious that the larger male, was checking out his girlfriends raised tail...as spring is just around the corner!

..my lordy, could one have asked for a better pose. I think not!

This family group of approx. 10, hunt daily for ground squirrels and rabbit in this beautiful little valley,
as it is home to literally THOUSANDS of squirrels.

I've enjoyed this pack for the past 4 years, ( from a friends home) when ever I get the chance.
Today was by far, the closest (approx 40-50 yds) they have come to the buildings, while the sun light, was still golden.

    Froggy
Santa Rosa Valley/Ventura County...just east of Thousands Oaks..in this particular valley, one could be in the backwoods of Montana, yet a 14 minute drive over a small set of hills and you are on the 101..

As you well now, coyotes are all over CA, the trick is to find a spot, any spot where they have settled and simply look for a ground squirrel city, which CA also does not have a shortage of, this would be one sure fire method.

    Thanks for droppin in.
