Tramp for the DGrin challenge Strong emotion

Hi

I shot this at the weekend & would like some advice on how best to improve it for the challenge.

Here's the photo straight from the camera (Fuji finepix S602 zoom):

I desaturated it, upd the contrast with a curve layer & then added a layer level as well to get this. Any suggestions to make it kick a bit more?

    I would crop the left and bottom of this picture so that the left edge just comes to the bag the man is dragging and the bottom just comes to the bottom of the street pole.

    Black and white seems to work better than the color version.

    Background is a little too busy but the crop might help.
