Best way to split up a site?

Now that I'm starting to get serious with my sports pictures, I really can't have my personal pics on the same website. I don't want potential clients to be able to click on my personal pictures and see me stuffing chocolate in my mouth, or watching a video of me acting like a fool! :rofl
Here are a couple of solutions I came up with, all with extreme downsides.
1. Password protect my personal galleries
Downside: KEYWORDS no longer work! I can't put in "Chris" and see all the pictures I've ever taken of him. He can't put a specialized link in his profile that has all of his pictures across multiple galleries, all in one place. I can't quickly find Tom+Kim to see all the pictures I have ever taken of me and my girlfriend!
2. Sharegroups?
Downside: The 349gaeou0920 link for every category really doesn't do it for me. I guess I could make 1 passworded gallery, make it HTML Only and put multiple links up, but that doesn't have the same FEEL as Smugmug (no picture associated with each link), and it has the same problems as #1.
3. Buy another Smugmug account.
Downside: If I want video support I'm looking at ANOTHER $150 a year (8mb limit sucks for power user).
Any feasible ones? If you guys enabled keywords with password protected galleries that would be perfect! Is it hard to check for the cookie for displaying password protected pictures in a keyword page?

Hi Dodge,
This is how I've got my site setup www.moonriverphotography.com
All my family stuff is in private galleries. And I use sharegroups, and Vanity URLS (search Dgrin for "vanity" you'll find a great post by jfriend).
Portfolio • Workshops • Facebook • Twitter
Currently, even with vanity URLs, I can give someone a direct link to my sports photos, but I cannot stop them from backing up and accessing my personal photos...it looks like you got around this. When I click on Andy on your site, it just brings me to the same mainpage, not a normal Smugmug main page where ALL of your public galleries can be accessed.
While it looks like you have what I want, I do not think I can set anything up like this without paying for another domain as you have with moonriverphotography. If I set my site up like yours, I won't even need vanity URLs. I can give clients the sports domain site I buy and everyone else can keep using the normal Smugmug (possible?). Is there a way to setup the new domain I buy so the structure is kept the same as it is now, or will I have to reorganize everything? I currently have it like this...
Sport -> Meet -> Event
Track and Field -> Home Meet -> 200 Meters
Where can I find a step-by-step guide on how to keep both sites seperate, with (or preferably without) a new domain, while keeping keyword support for my personal pictures??
Thanks!
Andy,
Is it possible to keep the breadcrumbs seperated as well?
If i would use sharegroups for the "family/friends"-side, the breadcrumbs still will start with "Anton Spaans (Streets of Boston)". So, when they click on this first breadcrumb link, they're suddenly in the "professional"-side.
When I hear the earth will melt into the sun,
in two billion years,
all I can think is:
"Will that be on a Monday?"

I don't mind if they get to the professional side, my gripe is I lose keywords doing it this way...not to mention it is way too convoluted compared to normal Smugmug browsing (which is great by the way )
And, what's wrong with that?
Portfolio • Workshops • Facebook • Twitter
So then, mutliple accounts would be the answer...for you... give the gift of SmugMug to yourself?

Aww I was hoping Andy was preparing a super-duper 3 page guide for me to follow...
:cry Stop taking up Andy's time flyingdutchie! lol j/k
Do you have multiple accounts for your site? I want to set mine up like yours!
I don't think anything is wrong with that
But if you really want to keep these two side separated....

:nah I have one site. www.moonriverphotography.com

How did you do this?
Can I have it so my friends can continue using my normal smugmug link, and all of my sports clients can use the new domain name that I buy, that can only access a limited portion of my site (as Moonriverphotography.com does for you)? Without using sharegroups?
Is there a way to setup the new domain I buy so the structure is kept the same as it is now with 3 teirs?
Sport -> Meet -> Event
Track and Field -> Home Meet -> 200 Meters
If so, where can I find a step-by-step guide on how to keep both sites seperate like this with the new domain name?
The only thing public on my site is what you see in the link "Galleries"
Everything else is private, and shared via sharegroups and vanity urls
Portfolio • Workshops • Facebook • Twitter
I meant to add, I have an extensive family collection.. 2000+ photos over 100 years of family archives, plus all the current stuff. This works, for me.

But if you DID make a gallery public, it wouldn't be visible anywhere from moonriverphotography.com How did you get rid of the breadcrumb? How did you customize it out?
I'll just get right to the point. This is what I want to do, can AnyOne tell me if this is possible, keeping in mind the structure
Track and Field -> Home Meet -> 200
Lets say I currently have cookie.smugmug.com and I buy www.cookiesarefun.com... In www.cookiesarefun.com I have a link to the Track and Field category. This link will bring me to exactly what I see in cookie.smugmug.com/TrackandField *but without any breadcrumbs* From there I can access all subcategories in Track and Field, but nothing more.
If I want to I can also add a link for VolleyBall, which will point me to the VolleyBall category, and nothing more...etc
For my friends, they can continue going to cookie.smugmug.com and nothing is different for them. I can continue using keywords without clients seeing them.
POSSIBLE?
Maybe this thread should be moved to Customization?
I believe the answer to your question about the breadcrumbs is yes.
I haven't messed with sub-categories yet as I am fairly new to SM too, but I don't think there's a breadcrumb in there. And if there is, I'm sure there's a piece of javascript code that can get rid of it.
I was in a similar situation as you. My main site, Huntsville Car Scene.com is where I want my users to go to. I don't want them to really even know that they're on smugmug. With the tremendous customization ability and assistance from all the wonderful people that helped me on here, I have been able to make this:
http://newpics.huntsvillecarscene.com/gallery/1147319
Which is a page they will hit from this:
http://www.huntsvillecarscene.com/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=641&day=2006-1-22&c=1
As you can see there is absolutely no breadcrumb whatsoever. But I believe there were ways to keep some of it in there if I wanted. I hope this helps.

That works well, but if I go to huntsvillecarscene.smugmug.com, I get nothing (if thats really your site), know what I mean? Is there any way to have both huntsvillecarscene.smugmug.com viewable AND have that gallery of yours without breadcrumbs?
Simpler solution...
How do I make it so ALL of my public galleries and categories aren't accessible from the main page? Can I make it so just 3-4 specific categories are visible from the main page? Then I can just direct my friends to cookies.smugmug.com/personal_pics and everything will be normal!
POSSIBLE!?

Not with Keyword support.
Its been solved in the customization thread right around this post.

I would like to open a separate account. Is there a way to move gallaries from my current account site to my new site? I love smugmug!!
