commercial value of nature shots
hi
this may provoke an interesting discussion about value of nature shots,as determined by the market-eg stock agencies etc.
for nature shots to be classified as such (in my experience anyway) the animal or plant subject must be surrounded by native flora and /or fauna-
eg a kangaroo underneath a pine tree is a no no,or in front of any man made structure such as a fence or building or with a non native animal such as a cow etc this goes for feeder shots etc.check the grass on the ground as that is sometimes exotic too-hard to identify though.
once you have a subject in the correct environment then the winners ,as far as i can tell ,are ones which ,are quality full frame images, not crops which demonstrate behaviour or the personality of the creature.
this list does not apply only to birds-

this list does not apply only to birds-
- rare or endangered (my dodo in flight shot should be ready soon!)
- birds in flight ,with either all motion frozen by fast shutter speed or sometime substantial motion blur can look good too-in between is a no-no
- landing and take off-particularly if it is graceful or extremely clumsy and comical such as some sea birds
- nest shots with young being fed
- hatching/birth
- mating and mating rituals
- feeding-on native plants and animals
- moment of capture with prey/food clearly identifiable
- parent feeding young
- attack by predators and defensive displays
- unique behaviour of individual species- eg victorias rifle bird(you will need to google this)
- play time between siblings or parents and young

you appear to have been having some fun!
seriously though, migratory shots and mating colors have been added to my list
fighting, intra species and inter species i think would also be on the list too.
has anyone got any other suggestions and have any ideas on broad ranking ,assuming its a good capture,in terms of rarity, difficulty and value?
