Permits for The Wave in May opens TODAY at 11am PST!

If you're planning on visiting "The Wave" while you're out for the May Shootout, please note that there's a limit of 10 permits issues PER DAY. Today at Noon (AZ time), 11am PST, 2pm EST you can apply for your permit online at https://www.blm.gov/az/paria/checklist.cfm (sorry, I haven't figured out how to embed a link) - make sure to select the CANYON BUTTES NORTH area! Reportedly these days can fill in an hour so don't delay!

I got it for the Friday. I had NO CLUE if this is closer to Bryce or Zion. Oh well

Congratulations! I tried to get 6 for Sunday 5/21 for our post-shootout group and couldn't get 'em. Six was too many by the time I'd completed the form, so I tried for 3 and couldn't get those either! In fact, the whole month of MAY is already completely booked less than 10 mins after the opening!

In hindsight, it would've probably been a better strategy to have three of us attempt to get 2 permits each. Who would've thunk it!

We were hoping to get to it after the main event, but it looks like we missed it:cry . And since I have been to both canyons I'd rather get the Wave if it's possible...

I can imagine that with the six spots you've got you'll be most likely swamped with the requests, so if my wish can not be granted I'll totally understand...
