request for print...

Hi. I am fairly new here-- joined in December and just learning my way around.

A viewer requested to purchase a print of mine for a zoo sign. That would be great with me but I am not sure if the image would be suitable for the 24 x 36 inch size mentioned in the request. The image is:

and that is a cropped and compressed version of this one:

The original is 1534px by 2048px and the file size is 1.5mb. I told the viewer that the smugmug online store might be able to print a 20 x 20 or maybe a 24 x 36 but I wasn't sure. I have never ordered a print, let alone a large print. I thought they might just order one for themselves from the store or download the original and print whatever they wanted (I don't care if they do).

Do you think a 24 x 36 could be printed from that original image? Could a 24 x 36 be printed from a cropped version of the original image?

I can print small pics at home on my inkjet but I don't know much about printing. I used a Canon PowerShot S30 3.2mp and I also have a Canon A520. I like them quite a lot but I mainly shoot flowers and things in the yard or around the house so I tend to crop the images a lot because I can't always get as close as I would like to.

I read the help section about printing but I think I will have to study that a bit more to understand if my image can be printed at 24 x 36 inches. I hope I haven't led my viewer astray.

Thanks,
-steve

    Hi Steve,

OK -- so you could certainly print it but *not* at that agressive a crop. What you want to try, is add it to your cart, choose 24x36, then choose "crop" and you'll see how much you could crop. I think maybe a slightly small size, like 20x30 would be better.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you want / need any further assistance!
