Abusive Comment Spam

Hi Gang

Some people from my previous school have been littering my smugmug galleries/site with abusive spam which was rather offedning :cry . The language was so bad, I couldn't possibly post it here. I don't want to turn off comments because I do recieve some good ones.

What would anyone do in this situation? Any suggestion? Are smugmug Inc. able to track the IP of the comments? I deleted them today as I didn't want 'serious' people to see them.

Seb

Go to the control panel, click on the thing that tells you how many comments you have, in the upper right hand click enable comment approval (see http://www.smugmug.com/help/photo-sharing-comments)

Seb, you can also set up a StatCounter account & use that to track who is coming to your site. It gives you IPs, time, dates, galleries they visited, cities they are in, etc.

Seb, I just went through something similar...I turned if off. Not sure how to turn off the Gallery Comments tho. It would be good if all comments could be turned off. I figure people can email me if they want to comment. Good luck!

Shane, if you have comments turned off in your gallery customization then you won't get any :)

    Gallery Tools>customize gallery>comments=no.
