Problems with Shopping Cart

Hi Andy,

Hopefully, you can help me. I have a problem with my website. If you try and purchase one of my photos and click "Buy this Photo", all you see is that it is added to the cart and than it goes back to the photo. It does not take you to the drop down menu showing the prices for the different sizes. This is not good for me. I don't know how long this has been happening, but I think it started in the past few days.

I received several E-mails from people wishing to purchase my photos but got frustrated with the site and gave up.

Any help you can give me will be very helpful.

My website is WWW.retagger.smugmug.com

Thanks in advance,

David........

    Hi David,

Your cart is working fine. When you buy one photo, it adds it to your cart. You can then click "view cart" to see your cart. Buy multiple photos, and you have the option of going to cart or back to gallery.

You have the option of changing the action text on the cart buttons if you wish:

    I hope this helps!

    Hi Andy,

You are right, there is nothing wrong with my shopping cart.

The only problem I have is if someone wants to purchase a photograph, the price of the photo does not show until the very end in the shopping cart.

When I first signed up on this site several weeks ago, it was different. Before, when I wanted to purchase a photograph I would hit "Buy this photo" and then, a drop down menu would show the prices. After you chose a size, it would then add the photo to the shopping cart.

The way it is now, you don't know the pricing until the very end. Did something change within the last few weeks?

I think the confusion you're having is that the place where you pick sizes and view prices *IS* the cart - before when you clicked "buy this photo" it immediately directed you to your cart. Now, it adds the photo to your cart and allows you to keep browsing. You can view your cart (and pick sizes and see prices) at any time by clicking on the "view cart" option.
Alternatively, as Andy described very nicely above, you can add more than one photo at a time using the Buy "Multiple Photos" option and there have the choice to go directly to the cart (as before) or back to the gallery.

    Thanks for the info.

So I am not going crazy...something did change within the last few weeks? Is there anyway that i could revert back to the old way to make it less confusing to potential clients? The only problem I have is eventhough you add a photo to the cart and are allowed to keep browsing, you still do not know the price of the photo until after you go to the shopping cart. The way it was befere was better - you got to chose the size of the photo and were shown the price.

Sorry Dave, no, there is not. BTW, your clients see your pricing in Step ONE of the shopping cart.

Look in my pro tips forum to see what other pros have done regarding custom help, etc. You could, for example, have your own HTML ONLY page that lists your prices .. and more...

    Thanks Andy and CS Winton,

I will try your suggestions and look at some other sites for ideas.

    Thanks again,
    Dave...
