LAB, Curves, CS2 and OS-X

I notice something funny in the Curves dialog in LAB space under OS-X:

Notice it says "-12", not "-127". The dialog box only displays three characters. But some negative numbers require 4 characters. Anyone else see this?

    What happens if you hit that little button in the middle of the horizontal axis and reverse lightness and darkness?

    I've never understood the numbers unless I did that and made them agree with Dan's books.
    If not now, when?

    No difference at all. Think about it --- the number is still "-127".

    Oh, I read more carefully. Yes, I've seen this before and yes it bugged me. I reported to Adobe. I don't think they ever acknowledge bugs, but maybe sometimes they do fix them.
    If not now, when?

    Hmm... When I have it reversed (to match the LAB book), the scale also changes. So now the number is 0 not -127:

    I wonder why that's not what you get?

    (With the default axis, I do have that problem and was indeed confusing.)
