managing versions / crops

Are there some methods withing PS to keep track of a couple different ways to crop a source image?

I make all the adjustments first. But on occasion when I want to make several different crops of the same image, I just end up saving them as separate files with _8x10, _4x6, _closeup, etc....

Is there a better way? Some way to use layers to save the crops within the source PSD file?

I use Elements to keep track of this. Elelemnts lets you store version sets. So if I have my original picture, and I make a crop of it for 8x10, then it will have both the fiels grouped together, and I put 8x10 into the caption or notes section of that photo. One other way you can do it that some people do is:

1)Make any changes to the original you want (Image Adjustments) and crop save it as a new file. Then when you want to print one, just open it up in photoshop, and crop it only for printing. Then don't save it. This leaves you without having so many duplicates for every print size.
