I have long been trying to take good pictures of the fish inside my aquarium. I think I finally got a pretty good technique down.

What do you think?

Good job. I am a diver and used to keep aquariums. I always found it difficult to photograph fish in my aquariums due to the paralax and reflections. Also, my fish were always really active.

The only thing more difficult is chasing them underwater :-)

Hi there! Nice Blue Dempsey....I'm a fishkeeper too, and have found a few techniques for photographing my fish as well. It can be really tricky with low light and reflective glass cant it?

If you are interested, here is my fish gallery.

I love these Jack Dempseys but have never found any. If I ever do I will probably buy one.

I use an old sunpak flash with an optical sensor/trigger and sit it on top of the tank near the front. I aim it at the bottom back part of the tank. Then I use my 550ex (pointed at ceiling) to trigger it. Seems to get me plenty of light and no flash glare.

    So far so good.
