Question about linking and right clicking

Ok, I have my images protected (no right click) and also have them so you can use in posts (external linking). Here is my issue, how do I get the URL to the image if I can not right click it? Is there another way? or if I want to use them for external links I have to disable the protect feature?

I can view page source and get it from there but that is kind of tedious.

Any suggestions on how to right click protect and external link?

Temporarily make right click disabled. Get the image data by right click properties. Then change the setting back.

You may want to make the gallery temporarily private while you do this is there is a number of images you need to do it for. If only one, it will only be unprotected for a minute.
"A photo is like a hamburger. You can get one from McDonalds for $1, one from Chili's for $5, or one from Ruth's Chris for $15. You usually get what you pay for, but don't expect a Ruth's Chris burger at a McDonalds price, if you want that, go cook it yourself." - me

    Enable easy sharing?

That kind of defeats the purpose of protecting it doesnt it? The easy share gives everyone a direct link right to the photo.

    So, ok.

It's really super easy to figure out the links. They are always the same.

    EXAMPLE

    http://cmac.smugmug.com/gallery/31205/1/1085820/Medium

    Translates to:

    http://cmac.smugmug.com/photos/1085820-S.jpg

    http://cmac.smugmug.com/photos/1085820-M.jpg

    http://cmac.smugmug.com/photos/1085820-L.jpg

Easy enough? That's the way you should do it if you do not want easy sharing on.

FYI, anyone can right-click your image in a post and save it.

Right-click protection only works on SmugMug pages, so externally linking will remove that security feature from your photos every time you link them.

I understand that, but someone is alot less likely to go trolling through on of the photography forums I am on and find my image. Specially when there are so many better photogrpahers there! :)

Thanks for the help guys, Andy, Thats for the translation info. That is the way I will most likely do it.
