I you are stationed in Boston or nearby, subscribe to this thread! We'll all try to post interesting events to photograph here and see what comes of it.
Things around here are pretty dull sometimes, so it's good get some tips.
To kick things off, I found two potentially interesting events in today's Boston Globe Calendar section:
Lowell Winterfest
Friday 10 Feb 6:30pm - 2 am
Sat, noon - midnight
Downtown Lowell. Includes National Human Dogsled Championship on Arcand Drive
Dave Holland master classes
Tuesday 14,15 Feb, 1pm, New England Conservatory, 241 St. Boltoph

This goes along with an idea I had, having noticed there were a good number of Boston-area folks here. That was a get together for the area Dgrinners to go shoot something. But I was going to suggest that when it wasn't 20 degrees out.
I have nothing to add in terms of shootable things this weekend, save for a snowstorm (and the Longwood Symphony Orchestra...any takers??? eh??? eh??? Ah, nevermind :nah ).
(Ginger, I love blues, but that is not a short drive)

Andy, you sure know how to rub it in.
Those Dave Holland master classes might work for this. Dave Holland is a jazz master, played with Miles, the whole 9 yards. If he allows shooting, it could be very cool. This is one, though, where I think one camera at a time would be the absolute most...
