I am looking at an extender for my 70-200 F/4L as another option of a little more zoom and was wondering if anyone is using a non canon extender with good results??? Just looking at the dollars to quality conversion factor :)

Thanks in advance

Do a search on the site and you'll see that people are using different extenders
    with good luck.

But the common consensus seems to be for Canon lenses, get the 1.4x
from Canon. Since that's what I have, I can safely recommend it.

Lots of folks seem happy with the Sigmas.

Do you want to know the darn truth for me? A 70-200 is a lens for mid range stuff, and extending it does not improve the photos. I have it. I have used an extender with it, either and both sizes: canon.

If you are going to get an extender, can't afford a lens, I would get the 1 1/4 extender, tamron or canon, ask Andy. Then I would save up and keep my eyes open for a 300 or 400 prime lens.

That way the extender will not be so long as to make your shots truly difficult, it will make you happy for a bit, and it will be great on a 300mm.

Hmm, what is best to get. A extension tube or a teleconverter? The teleconverter just make it possible to focus closer to the subject?
