    I like it...
I am surprised your post isn't getting more responses -- I really like this shot. It really captures the atmosphere of the Rideau Canal... I've never been, but your shot makes me want to go all the more.

What lens did you use? I don't think I have anything that wide in my (rather limited) arsenal.

I think DGrinners are still stuck on wanting to post the perfect shot. The "best" shot. God knows at a scene like that there were lots of photo ops. The more the merrier if you ask me.

Thanks photon, I'm glad you feel I captured the atmosphere. Here's the exif.

The lens is the 18-70mm kit lens. Cheers!

I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean, with all due respect. Your certainly right about all the photo ops, here's a link to my gallery.

actually I was checking out your galleries earlier and almost posted a pic of Dani in this thread but didn't want to step over any lines.

but I'm glad you asked! I mean its a great shot. but it seems to me the feel of this website, when I compare it to what might be considered its sister website, Advrider, is less = more.

    and what does that mean.

the easy part is to say that on advrider there are lots and lots of pictures posted by some pretty amateur photographers with some pretty good results.

    now the harder part.

over here on digigrin which is a photography site there seems to be a reluctance to post too many pictures and a lot of times people seem to underpost. which makes no sense on a digital photography website. and I'm not trying to fault you in specific, but your thread seemed to be the one that finally made me post what I've been thinking since I've been spending more time here. why don't they post more?

I mean a winter carnival like that you could stand in the middle and let people skate by and get good shots.

but again its just me. not trying to fault the shot. heck post more pics of dani she's a hottie..

Well, in this instance, the shot I chose to display is a landscape shot.

Most of the other shots I took that day were portraits and "other" type ones. Most, but not all.

I guess I could have included a couple more in my original post, but by including a link to my gallery, I offered a choice at least to see more.

I think Dani is a hottie, too. :D

Nope I'd never be upset at anyone posting pics of Dani, unless done in bad taste. And thanks!

Gus, that is one heck of a nice compliment. Thank you very much. And you got it right, skating is exactly what they're doing. Winterlude!

Don't know how I missed this one the first time.

I like these types of shots.
